I was delighted to officially open the newly improved canal towpath route in Aylesbury this morning, which will make it much easier to walk, cycle or wheel from one part of the town to another.

This morning, personnel from Royal Air Force Halton exercised the freedom of Buckinghamshire when they marched through Wendover bearing arms - bayonets fixed - and flying the King’s Colour. They were led by the band of the RAF Regiment.

I was delighted to open the new health & social care suite at Aylesbury UTC this morning, with Chair of Governors Sir Mike Tomlinson. Following the Covid pandemic, the need for health & social care staff has never been greater - especially in Bucks, with our ageing population.

The Next Step project in Aylesbury provides a key stepping stone for previously homeless young people aged 16 to 25. Run by local charity Youth Concern, the house provides the opportunity for independent living with expert advice and support from counsellors, staff and volunteers.

I'm determined to get more help from the Government for Aylesbury's much-needed regeneration. This morning, Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities minister Lee Rowley MP took up my invitation to come to the town to see for himself the challenges & opportunities we face.

This morning I spoke to the Director of Housing at Abbeyfield, the charity that owns the retirement home in Wendover that’s under threat of closure.

As National Walking Month draws to a close, it was lovely to go for a late afternoon stroll in Wendover Woods. For the more energetic, there are fitness trails and running tracks. It's a truly peaceful setting to soak up views of the beautiful Chilterns.
