I thoroughly enjoyed a great dinner at Kuzzu in Kingsbury Square this evening, with delicious food and excellent service.
Times are still difficult for hospitality businesses so I continue to ensure ministers are aware how important cafés, restaurants & bars are to our local economy!
Residents and staff at Abbeyfield House in Wendover are understandably extremely upset and angry at the prospect of their much-loved home being closed. I've written to bosses of the firm that owns it to ask for an urgent meeting.
It was great to welcome the Chief Secretary to the Treasury John Glen MP to Aylesbury this morning.
I was delighted to be able to show him some of the town's attractions, from the historic Market Sq to the David Bowie statue and the Waterside Theatre.
This afternoon I hosted a roundtable with doctors and staff from GP practices across Aylesbury. With so many constituents facing long waits to get appointments, we had a detailed discussion about ways to improve services for patients.
Lots of coronation celebrations taking place locally today. It was good to visit several of them, starting in Aston Clinton, which received funding help from the National Lottery.
I had a useful walk-and-talk meeting around Aylesbury town centre this morning with Cllr Rachael Matthews, Deputy Cabinet Member for Town Centre Regeneration at Buckinghamshire Council. We were joined by members of the council’s economic development team.
I enjoyed visiting Wendover’s A little bird told me gallery this afternoon, which currently has an exhibition by artist Ken Dixon, who spent much of his life in Buckinghamshire. Having painted since the 1930s, Ken’s collection of oils features many local rural scenes from bygone times.
It was an honour to participate in the Aylesbury St Georges Day parade for Buckinghamshire Scouts this afternoon. Organised Aylesbury Town Council it also included local Girlguiding, air, sea and air cadets, civic leaders and even St George on horseback!
Thoroughly enjoyed the Historic Fayre at Discover Bucks Museum, where there was a very lively performance of royal history. It was good spending time with dignitaries from past and present!
