There was great enthusiasm today from staff and students at Buckinghamshire College Aylesbury for #TLevelWeek. Brand new courses in digital, childcare and health have just started, offering an excellent combination of classroom learning with on-the-job placements.
T Levels seek to widen the opportunities available to post-16 year olds by putting technical and academic qualifications on an equal footing. They offer a blend of classroom learning alongside an ‘on-the-job’ industry placement, which not only makes them highly desirable as a qualification but directly relevant to employers. It is hoped that T Levels will become one of the main choices for students after GCSEs, alongside apprenticeships and academic programmes.
Students I met today were extremely enthusiastic about T levels - but many only found out about them by accident. I strongly encourage year 11 students to consider T Levels as a great opportunity for the next step of their education.
