It was a pleasure to join members of our local Hindu community at Wendover Memorial Hall for Ganesh Utsav, one of the most important Hindu festivals. Lord Ganesha is the elephant-headed God of Wisdom and New Beginnings and the Remover of Obstacles. Celebrations included prayers, devotional songs, traditional dance performances and a wonderful lunch. Families of all ages were there to celebrate. I was delighted to say a few words to thank the organisers, and reiterate my support for a temple for the growing Hindu community in our local area.
