The focus at today's Victims Bill Committee has been on the creation of an Independent Public Advocate. They would act for the victims of major disasters like Hillsborough stadium tragedy, the Manchester Arena bombing or the Grenfell fire. We have considered how best that role should be undertaken to ensure victims and their families get the treatment they deserve. I am pleased that the Government & the Opposition are working constructively together to help victims of such terrible tragedies.
