Hydrogen has the potential to be a key part of the transition to net zero. It was great to learn more about this at an event in the House of Commons today.
I've always believed that it's absolutely vital that this transition is as practical and easy as possible for local people. Aylesbury has many terraced houses, where the installation of heat pumps could prove particularly challenging.
So I was pleased to hear about recent studies that have blended hydrogen with natural gas, and can be used in existing boilers, bringing lower emissions. The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero is currently holding a consultation on hydrogen blending and I look forward to seeing the results.
