I was delighted to open the new health & social care suite at Aylesbury UTC this morning, with Chair of Governors Sir Mike Tomlinson. Following the Covid pandemic, the need for health & social care staff has never been greater - especially in Bucks, with our ageing population. With settings of hospital wards, GP surgeries & domicilary care alongside well-equipped classrooms, this is a brilliant facility for young people hoping for careers in health & social care. It was great to chat to the really impressive students on GCSE courses, with plans for T levels starting this September. The new suite has been made possible thanks to excellent partners including Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, South Central Ambulance Centre, Buckinghamshire New University, Bucks College Group, Buckinghamshire Local Area Partnership, Buckinghamshire Business First and the Merchant Taylors Academy Trust.
I’m very proud to have this UTC in my constituency, providing excellent opportunities in technical education for local children.
