It's almost 24 years since the Hillsborough stadium disaster in Sheffield, in which 97 people lost their lives. It has taken too long to learn the lessons from that awful tragedy. Yesterday, police apologised for the way they responded at the time, and in the subsequent years. This afternoon an Urgent Question was asked about this in the House of Commons. I urged the Minister for Policing, Chris Philp, to ensure that police forces across the country dramatically improve the way they act after any future disasters.
