Freedom of speech is a key part of a free society. It comes under threat when extremely wealthy individuals take out aggressive lawsuits to try to silence criticism, whether from charities, pressure groups or news organisations. These are known as "SLAPPS" and the Government has committed to taking action against them. I was glad to hear this confirmed by the new Lord Chancellor Alex Chalkin in the House of Commons.
