Following proposals to close ticket offices at Chiltern Railways stations, this morning I raised constituents' concerns with some of the company's bosses. I am particularly concerned about older and disabled passengers, and want to ensure they are able to get the assistance they need, when they need it.
I then spoke to the Transport Secretary Mark Harper and the Rail Minister Huw Merriman about the proposals alongside other local MPs Greg Smith, Steve Baker and Victoria Prentis. We also discussed overcrowding on trains in the area and the desperate need to improve available rolling stock. I will continue to press both ministers and Chiltern for improvements to our train service.
The consultation on proposals to close ticket offices is open until 26 July and I urge residents to respond http://www.chilternrailways.co.uk/ticketofficeproposals
