The Next Step project in Aylesbury provides a key stepping stone for previously homeless young people aged 16 to 25. Run by local charity Youth Concern, the house provides the opportunity for independent living with expert advice and support from counsellors, staff and volunteers. I was pleased to visit this afternoon with the charity's Chief Executive, Hannah Asquith, and meet one of the residents, who explained the massive difference the project has made to his life. This week there's a national campaign to raise awareness of youth homelessness. It's important to tackle the root causes, as well as ensure the right provision of service for those who find themselves without a place to live. I know this is taken seriously by the Homelessness Minister Felicity Buchan MP and Buckinghamshire Council Cabinet Member Mark Winn, and I'll be actively supporting efforts to achieve a more joined-up approach by national and local government departments.
