The prime minister has joined Aylesbury MP Rob Butler's call for local people to be scrupulous about sticking to the coronavirus rules, so we can avoid going into a High Alert level. At Prime Minister’s Questions in parliament today, Rob raised fears that rising rates of infections in Buckinghamshire would mean moving into Tier 2.
In response, Boris Johnson MP said:
“I can, I hope, reassure my Honourable Friend by telling him that the incidence in the Vale of Aylesbury is, in fact, less than half the England average, and the way forward for constituents in the Vale of Aylesbury and everywhere else, is for everyone to keep following the guidance, observing the new restrictions, but obviously washing hands, wearing a face-covering in enclosed spaces, and keeping a sensible distance.”
Afterwards, Rob said:
"Local people have made many sacrifices over the past few months to try to suppress Covid 19, and I want to ensure we keep infection rates down, so children can continue to go to school, people can continue to see their friends and families, and businesses can continue to provide jobs to sustain our economy. That's why it's so important to follow all the government guidance, and especially to self-isolate and order a test if you have any symptoms".
