Parliament and the nations of the Commonwealth have been marking Commonwealth Day 2022. The Commonwealth consists of 54 independent countries all of which have strong links to the United Kingdom. The theme for Commonwealth Day 2022 reflects the theme for the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting – 'Delivering a Common Future' – which highlights how the Commonwealth nations are ‘innovating, connecting and transforming’ to help achieve goals such as tackling climate change, promoting good governance and boosting trade. This is a particularly special year given that 2022 is Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
It really was heartwarming to see all the flags of the Commonwealth in Parliament Square marking this very special day. The organisation is just as relevant today as it has always been.
