With the Wimbledon Championships starting next week, it was good to visit the Halton Tennis Centre this afternoon to hear about the club’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. Investing heavily in LED lights to increase energy efficiency, the centre has already cut its carbon output by more than 30% since 2014. With other exciting plans, it is now looking to lead the way on sustainability for sports clubs across the UK. I was also impressed by the club’s work to make tennis more inclusive, ranging from sessions for disabled players to outreach in schools and free community tennis sessions. Many people consider tennis to be an exclusive sport: Halton tennis club does everything it can to dispel that myth and show a warm welcome to everyone. Halton UK LTA - Tennis For Britain
