It was good to visit Ardenham Lane House which was funded by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to help reduce rough sleeping in Aylesbury.
Along with Cllr Mark Winn, Deputy Cabinet Member at Buckinghamshire Council responsible for Homelessness reduction, I met resident, Stuart, in one of the self-contained flats & heard about wrap-around support provided by Hightown Homes.
After this, I then met the CEO of Aylesbury Homeless Action Group. Their focus on prevention means that they help to support people to access safe, affordable housing and address any underlying issues and motivate people towards independent living. It was excellent to see partnership working in action between charities, the local council and national government to tackle homelessness.
