We only need to see events in Ukraine, the South China Sea and parts of the Middle East to know that as the world becomes ever more dangerous, our armed forces become all the more essential. I'm very grateful to have had first-hand insight into the work of the Royal Marines in Plymouth over the past two days, with the cross-party Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme. We observed and participated in training exercises on land and water, as well as discussing topics that matter to all ranks, including kit, living conditions and careers. We were all extremely impressed by the skill and courage of those who dedicate their lives to protecting our country.
