I'm delighted that after years of campaigning, the Justice Secretary, Dominic Raab, has announced that the Government will introduce an Independent Public Advocate. This will help victims and the bereaved get the support they need following large-scale public disasters. It will help them through the process of public inquests and enquiries and make sure they get the answers they need. Today's announcement comes in response to the appalling pain and suffering experienced by the victims of the Hillsborough stadium disaster in 1989. I was pleased to hear from the Justice Secretary that families of victims will be at the heart of the development of the role of the Independent Public Advocate.
