Thefts of cats have risen dramatically in some parts of the country, and many local owners are worried about the prospect of losing their much-loved pet. Today in the House of Commons I heard more about the impact of cat theft from staff at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. It’s not just owners who suffer when a cat is stolen – cats themselves can be stressed by the changes to their environment or by being transported. It was good to learn that microchipping is making a significant difference, helping to reunite cats with their owners. But it’s clear we need to do as much as possible to #tacklecattheft.
