As we approach the summer holidays and trips to the beach, this afternoon I spoke in the House of Commons about the dangers of rip currents.
This follows the tragic death of 12 year old Bucks School girl Sunnah Khan in the sea at Bournemouth in May. Her mum asked me to raise this in Parliament so that no other parent has to experience the pain that she has suffered.
I was pleased that she was able to come to Westminster to hear for herself the response of the Department for Education on ways we can improve water safety and prevent drowning.
