1,305 people in Aylesbury have a recorded diagnosis of dementia, but it is estimated that this is only 60% of the real number. I was very pleased to hear more information about a possible cure for Alzheimer’s, as well as new treatments available to patients, from Alzheimer's Research UK in the House of Commons today.
Its latest report "Tipping Point: the Future of Dementia" highlights the importance of early diagnosis to help improve the chance of delaying the effects of the disease. New tools for diagnosis are now being piloted that could bring major benefits; I'm especially keen to see greater use of technology to help patients access treatment sooner.
