Rob has given his wholehearted support to the Prime Minister’s announcement in Parliament today, outlining the next steps out of the lockdown.
The changes to restrictions, which will apply from 4th July, include adjusting social distancing from two metres to a “one metre plus” rule and the much-anticipated reopening of restaurants, pubs and hairdressers as long as they are covid-secure.
Welcoming this decisive step, Rob said:
“The next steps that the Prime Minister announced today are excellent news for many local residents and firms.
“This is a crucial time for businesses, especially those in the hospitality industry that have been hit hard by the crisis. Having spoken to people owning and running many local companies, it’s clear that the changes to social distancing guidance will make a huge difference.
“I also know how eager people are to see family and friends, to enjoy the Great British pub once more, and – like me – to get a haircut!
“This is an exciting step, but as the Prime Minister stressed today, it is still vital that we continue to control the virus by staying alert, washing our hands and getting a test if you have symptoms of the virus.”
