Aylesbury MP, Rob Butler, has warmly welcomed the Prime Minister’s announcement today of a new and fair deal for Britain in a post-coronavirus world.
The government’s New Deal, which the Prime Minister set out in a speech this morning, includes a £5 billion investment for schools, hospitals and high streets, as well as a commitment to build homes, fix the NHS and tackle the “skills crisis”.
One of the key points of today’s announcement was investment in schools. Locally, both Chiltern Way Academy and Great Kingshill Church of England Combined School will benefit from additional funding.
Giving strong endorsement to the plans, Rob said:
“I am extremely pleased with the Prime Minister’s commitment to investing in the future of our country.
“This has been an incredibly difficult time for many local residents and businesses and the New Deal will help us to emerge strongly from the coronavirus crisis.
“I wholeheartedly welcome the government’s plans to invest in local schools and I am delighted that there will be an Opportunity Guarantee to every young person to ensure they have the chance of an apprenticeship or in-work placement.
“As we look ahead to a post-coronavirus Britain, I am also pleased that the government is seizing this opportunity to build back greener – I know how important this is to many local people, having taken part in a virtual lobby on climate change today.
“I will continue to champion the interests of the Aylesbury constituency in Parliament to ensure we get the best out of this ambitious New Deal.”
